The mission of Leelanau County Parks and Recreation Commission is to provide cost-effective recreational opportunities for the residents and visitors of Leelanau County.

Leelanau County Recreation Plan
The Leelanau County Parks and Recreation Plan was adopted by the County Board of Commissioners in 2002. It was prepared by the Parks and Recreation Committee, with the assistance of McKenna Associates, Inc. In an effort to ensure that quality recreational opportunities are provided for its citizens, both current and future, Leelanau County has created the Leelanau County Parks and Recreation Master Plan. This plan is intended to serve as a guide for the development of parks and recreation facilities and locations over the next five years and beyond. This plan is further intended to make the county eligible for grants from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) and to assist the county in achieving its recreational goals.
