North American Wetlands Preservation Act
SUMMARY
The purposes of this law (16 U.S.C. 44401-4414) include to protect a diversity of wetland ecosystems and other habitats for migratory birds and other fish and wildlife in North America. The law and international treaties establish a North American Conservation Council which shall recommend yearly wetlands conservation projects for the countries of North America to the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission. The law’s provisions address the source and allocation of funds to carry out the law, biennial reports to Congress, and the preparation of evaluation and assessment reports detailing the effectiveness of wetlands projects completed under the law.
