Click here to view full size picture SUMMARY

This law (MCL 324.30101-30113) is intended to protect the integrity of the land-water interface, riparian rights, and the public trust in the inland waters of the state. DEQ’s Inland Lakes and Streams Protection Program includes a permitting process which regulates dredging or filling below the ordinary high water mark; construction or enlarging, extending, removing or placing any structure on a bottomland; marina construction or operation; anything structurally interfering with the flow of an inland lake or stream; or connection of any waterway, canal etc, with an existing inland lake or stream for navigation or any purpose. Various activities which do not require a permit are also listed in the statute.

(Always refer to the most current version of the law, either by checking the compiled laws, or referring to the Legislative Bureau site above.)
