SUMMARY

This law (MCL 324.35501-35506) establishes a clear policy regarding the importance of biological diversity and for maintaining such diversity as an important natural resource. The law provides for research and reporting requirements by various state departments, including the Department of Natural Resources, Transportation Department, Department of Commerce, Department of Agriculture, Department of Public Health, and the Department of Military Affairs. Based on the information received from the reporting departments, a joint legislative committee was to develop, among other things, a state strategy and recommendations which were to be included in report to the legislature by December 30, 1995.

(Always refer to the most current version of the law, either by checking the compiled laws or the Legislative Bureau site above.)
