Recycling Sites

Leelanau County has eight (8) recycling sites at the following locations:

Greilickville: old fire station, Cherry Bend Rd

Cedar:  boat launch site

Suttons Bay: school parking lot

Leelanau Schools in Glen Arbor:  just off M-22

Peshawbestown: M-22, across from the casino

Lake Leelanau: behind the Post Office

Empire: Fisher Street, off LaCore Rd.

Village of Northport:  off 8th street

Each site has a large bin for cardboard/paper; a large bin for tin and plastic; and a smaller bin for glass (clear and colored). PLEASE CLEAN AND FLATTEN YOUR MATERIALS before placing them in the bins.

The bins are emptied throughout the week on an as-needed basis. The bins may fill up occasionally before we have the opportunity to empty them, especially on the weekends. To avoid this situation, try to do your recycling during the week when the sites aren't as busy. DO NOT LEAVE MATERIALS ON THE GROUND.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Leelanau County Planning and Community Development at (231) 256-9812 or toll free (866) 256-9711.
