Emergency Services Coordinator Named

Tom Skowronski has accepted the position of Emergency Services Coordinator for Leelanau County. Tom, who is currently serving as Undersheriff at the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office, will replace Dick Catton who retired in early July of 2003. Catton will remain onboard as an advisor to help achieve a smooth transition.

Skowronski’s extensive experience in law enforcement coupled with his knowledge and familiarity of Emergency Services make him an ideal choice for the job opening. He has worked with Dick Catton and Emergency Services for 8 ½ years, acting as Deputy Emergency Services Director in Catton’s absence. Tom has served in Law Enforcement for more than 22 years.

County Commissioners approved a new “stand alone” facility to house the 911 Dispatch Center which is being built in Sutton’s Bay Township. When the new Law Enforcement Center is completed, Skowronski will tentatively assume responsibility for the 911 Dispatch Operations in the new facility. The 911 Operations are currently under the direction of the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office.
