Description of Service: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan has been this region's preeminent youth mentoring organization for over a decade. We have proven success in creating and nurturing relationships between adults and children. Our service is based on our volunteers that are matched with a child between the ages of 6 and 12. They meet in the school or community. Research has proven that children matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister improve in school and are less likely to use alcohol, drugs or resort to violence to settle a dispute.
