The Maple Valley Nursing Home of Maple City is a family owned and operated facility. The property is owed by Leelanau County and leased to Maple Valley Nursing Home. The staff of the home is extensive, and the facility has one of the lowest turnover rates of any Nursing Facility in the area. Along with the home’s staff, there are many volunteers who give their time to help the residents. The home is licensed by the Michigan Department of Public Health for 25 beds. The home is also certified by the Michigan Department of Social Services to participate in Medicaid and Medicare. Finally, the home is in the process of being certified to become an “Eden Alternative” facility, offering plants and animals of all kinds.
Maple Valley provides 24 hour Licensed Nursing Care seven days a week. Some of these services include physical, speech, occupational, and respiratory therapy, insulin, initial CPR, IV medications and fluids, and many others. Dr. Mark Barber, DO, Donna Kasben R.N.C/NHA, Darlene Write, R.N, and Maureen Anthony C.D.M oversee much of the care along with the staff. Along with medical care and services, the home offers full time activities 7 days a week. Maple Valley owns a W/C equipped bus for taking residents on many group outings.
Residents’ personal life and family are very important at the home. Residents are encouraged to bring some personal belongings with them from home in order to make their room feel homelike. Families are encouraged to participate through Care Conferences where the resident’s plan of treatment is discussed. Families and friends are allowed to visit the residents anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., seven days a week.
