The Planning and Community Development office has the exclusive authority to assign addresses and road names. To apply for an address, you must complete an address application and return it along with the appropriate fee, to the Planning office. Applications can be returned via mail or fax to:

Addresses will NOT be assigned until the Fee is paid.
Address Assignment
Address numbers must be visible from the street to traffic coming from either direction and must be displayed on a post or other suitable obstacle. Addresses on mailboxes do NOT meet this requirement. Posts for addresses can be obtained from the Knights of Columbus.

An official name shall be given to a private road when:
1. The private road services five (5) or more residences, or 2. The location and/or length of the private road is such that for safety and emergency -purposes, it is more appropriate to name the private road than to assign addresses from the main road.
Road names must be approved by the Planning office, and must not duplicate other road names in the county. Surveys must be provided to the office at the time of the request for approval.
Private road signs are to be posted within 30 days of approval by the Planning office. Road signs for private roads are the responsibility of the owners residing on the private road, and the road signs shall match the signs used by the Road Commission for placement and height, and shall display the road name on both sides.
