Concealed Weapons Permits (CCW)
Click here to view full size picture If you wish to apply for a CCW permit, you need to pick up an information packet from either the Clerk's Office or the Sheriff's Department.

Please bring the following when applying for your CCW:
  • One 2x2-inch, passport quality photo (photo services are now available at the Clerk's Office)
  • Your driver's license for verification purposes
  • A check, money order or cash in the amount of $105.00
  • A copy of your certificate for successful completion of a Pistol Safety Training Course or your current CCW permit
  • If you are a retired Peace Officer, bring a letter stating that you retired in good standing with your former department

     

After a receipt has been issued by the Clerk's Office, you will then proceed to the Sheriff's Office to get fingerprinted. For hours of availability, please contact the Sheriff's Office at 231/256-8800.

The approximate waiting time for fingerprint clearance is between 1 to 3 weeks. After fingerprint clearance has been issued, you will be contacted by mail for an appearance before the next regularly scheduled gun board meeting.
