Recycling - Acceptable & Unacceptable Materials

ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS

Cardboard: grey and corrugated - boxes must be broken down.

Aluminum: - rinsed & flattened as much as possible.  (labels can stay on)

Tin cans: - rinsed & flattened as much as possible.  (labels can stay on)

Plastics:
#1 PETE clear plastic bottles (like water bottles)

#2 HDPE plastics (milk jugs, juice jugs, detergent jugs)

#5 plastics (cottage cheese containers, yogurt containers, etc.)

NO clam-shell type plastics (those that are used for sandwiches, deli foods, etc., that open like & shut like a clam).

Glass:  Clear, and colored glass. Rinse well.  (labels can stay on)

UNACCEPTABLE MATERIALS
Trash, wrapping paper and foil, wire hangers, scrap metal, pie tins, styrofoam and carry-out containers, broken glass, drinking glasses, mirrors, egg cartons, plastic tubs, pizza boxes, plastic shopping bags, construction debris, furniture and appliances, hazardous waste (including paint and oil) are not accepted at the recycling bins. These items can be picked up by your local trash hauler or taken to Glen's Landfill in Maple City.  Call a local scrap dealer to recycle your metal.

DO NOT leave materials at the sites when the containers are full.  DO NOT leave garbage at the sites.  When these materials are left at the sites, the county must pick up the costs for disposal and clean-up, which ultimately means higher costs to citizens.  Keep the sites CLEAN.  Thank you!
