Dog License Fees:

Michigan law requires that all dogs four months of age or older, with a valid rabies certificate, be licensed.

Male or Female Dogs

On or Before March 1st $8.00
On or After March 1st $15.00

Spayed or Neutered Dogs

On or Before March 1st $5.00
On or After March 1st $15.00

Why Should You License Your Dog?

Licensing your dog is an important way to show you care for your pet. Dogs that are licensed are guaranteed to be free of rabies. Additionally, your dog's license number allows them to be identified and you notified if your dog should stray and be picked up by the Animal Control Officer. Licensed dogs are held longer in the Animal Shelter if they are picked up stray. By licensing your dog on time, you pay the lowest licensing fees, and avoid fines for failing to license your dog. Finally, you should license your dog because it is the law.

How To Get A Dog License:

1. You can come in to the Leelanau County Courthouse to the County Treasurers Office with your current rabies certificate along with proof of spayed or neutering.
