The Leland Township Master Plan Update was distributed in draft form to the Planning Commission at its February 6, 2007, meeting. This update will be the framework for a new master plan, which--when completed--will take the place of the 1994 Comprehensive Development Plan. The update will soon be accessible via the Leland Township Web Site--watch for it.
The Comprehensive Development Plan for Leland Township was completed in 1994. The plan was prepared according to the provisions of Act 168 of 1959, as amended, the Township Planning Act.
The plan describes the land use patterns of Leland at the time of its preparation, the changes that were taking place, and the means to manage these patterns of change so that the future of Leland Township reflects the desires and goals of the township residents. The plan provides long-range comprehensive guidelines for public and private decision-making.
