A soil erosion control permit is needed for: 1) Any earth change within 500 feet of a lake or stream or any disturbance of one acre or more. 1 acre = 43,560 square feet) 2) Any earth change with a driveway that will have a slope greater than 10% (one foot of rise to 10 feet of run). 3) Any sites within 100 feet of a regulated wetland. Regulated Wetland: Any wetland that is within 1000 feet of the Great Lakes or within 500 feet of an inland lake or stream. Keep in mind that any part of a contiguous wetland that is regulated makes the entire wetland regulated. 4) Any earth change for a commercial site.
