Welcome to the latest version of the Leelanau County Community Center website. This new site was officially launched on September 11, 2006. This site was developed to offer a new level of participation and communication for all Leelanau County residents and visitors.

How do I obtain a building permit application?
Building permit applications are available online, or you can contact the Inspections Department at (231) 256-9806 during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
How do I get an address?
Contact the Leelanau County Planning & Community Development office at 256-9812 or 1-866-256-9711, Ext. 812. Forms are available online. There is a charge for assigning an address or approving a new road name.
Are zoning ordinances available online?
Zoning ordinances for all townships and villages are accessible online. Click on "Townships/Villages" from the menu above, and select your township or village from the drop down list. Then follow the links to the zoning ordinance.
How do I determine how a property is zoned?
Each township and village maintains its own zoning. To acccess zoning maps, select "Land Ownership and Planning" from the "Area Maps" drop down menu above. Then select your township of interest to bring up a township zoning map. If you have questions, contact the zoning administrator for the township or village.
What are your hours?
Most county offices are open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Monday through Friday, while a few offices are open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Call ahead of time to be sure the office will be open when you arrive.
