Population Profile

The purpose of this profile is to document the characteristics of Suttons Bay Township’s population, identify historical patterns and project future trends. The majority of the data presented within this chapter has been gathered from the 1990 U.S. Census, which, for the majority of elements is the most recent published data available. Where appropriate, the data described in this chapter is benchmarked to county and state demographics.

Population change

Data in Table 1 indicate the decennial population count for the years 1970, 1980 and 1990 and the rate of numeric and percentage change in population for minor civil divisions in Leelanau County, Leelanau County and the state of Michigan.
