The Leelanau County Parks and Recreation Commission was established in the early part of 2001 to provide recommendations and guidance relative to policy issues associated with the parks and recreation facilities and programming in Leelanau County. The Commission consists of ten (10) members appointed by the County’s Board of Commissioners, all with varying terms of between one and three years. The Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month and is guided in its actions by an adopted set of bylaws.
The Parks and Recreation Commission members include a representative from the Leelanau County Road Commission, the Leelanau County Drain Commissioner, a member of the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners and a member from the Leelanau County Planning Commission, as well as county appointed members.
